These interactions bring in challenges such as communicating service requirements, broadcasting policies and, expressing user privacy preferences. In this paper, we describe smart buildings, a novel and realistic IoT scenario and address the challenges in such a setting. 1 We present the different interactions in this scenario and propose a policy language for representing building policies and user preferences. Finally, we discuss many of the challenges ahead for developing an effective policy language in smart building scenarios and suggest possible solutions.
